Never mind

I did get sick after all. However, I am not throwing up, thank heaven. I at least get to lay on the couch watching the beautiful snow blowing outside. Keep me in your prayers if you would. Thanks!

Merry CHRISTmas and Happy New Year

I hope all you readers had a marvelous Christmas and New Year! My family did, despite the flu that decided to sweep through our family. I was the only family member that was spared – God is good!

I very much enjoyed my gifts this year, I received: my sweatshirt pictured in the below post, The Privilege of Being a Woman by Alice von Hildebrand, candy, a sign with my name on it from my brother, a red flannel hoody, a cute mug filled with candy, cocoa packet, chocolate suckers, and biscotties from my sister, Thorn in my Heart by Liz Curtis Higgs, a new wallet, a scarf, and SOCKS! Lots and lots of wacky socks. Toe socks, striped socks, plaid socks, fuzzy socks, ect. In addition, my mom got a GPS but I claimed half of it. ;) It’s a Tomtom and we’ve already downloaded C3-PO and Billy Connolly’s voices on it. SOOOOOOO much fun!

Now for my year in a glance (I’m only going to put one or two things for each month):

January - Attended the Father Daughter Ball in IL and surprised Amanda/Rose, Megan/Kathleen, and Teresa/Yaviel. Ah. Happy memories.

February – Attended the vocation retreat at the DSMME and after much discernment, decided not to enter. Held the first annual Week in Feminine Hairstyles on my blog. Hmm – must consider doing this again.

March – Rachel and Emmy came for a week and attended the Regency Ball with us! A week of bliss.

April – Finally got to 50 followers (!!!!!!!!), and I went to IL for a weekend to attend a vocation conference of sorts, and spend some time with the Halburs – love you guys!

May – Decided I wasn’t meant to attend FUS yet, felt a renewed calling to marriage, and the Halbur’s stopped by my house and were finally able to meet my whole family.

June – Family came to visit.

July – I GOT MY DRIVERS LISCENCE!

August – Flew out to VA to spend a week with Rachel and Emmy. Missed you Hannah!

September – Turned 20 years old – I’m still getting used to that.

October – For Mom’s birthday we went to this amazing little peninsula that juts out into the middle of a lake and the fall colors were drop dead gorgeous! Therefore, we were actually able to take some updated family pictures with a God given background.

November – Nothing significant.

December – I was laid off or work until next season (I never realized how much I needed a paycheck), attempted not to go broke buying presents, went to see VotDT and Tangled, and once again decided to delay college until Fall 2011. (I am getting so sick of delaying college!)

2011 resolutions: To FINALLY graduate from high school! And lose at least 20 pounds.

Have a great 2011!

New Fall Outfit

I recently went shopping at JCPenny (I love that store!) to purchase a pair of boots that do not have a heel, would work for the fall and winter seasons, and would look good with my long skirts. I found the pair I wanted and purchased them on the spot.

In addition, the day I went shopping was a major sale day; however, I didn’t have that much money in my checking account and I’m surrounded by 50-80% off deals - talk about painful! I never considered myself a shopper, but I became one that day. Anyhow, due to my lack of funds, I only purchased a cute skirt, the boots, and a deliciously red, long, knit scarf.

Here are my awesome boots and skirt:

You can't see it but the boots have three snap buttons on the side and if you roll them down they look like pirate boots! I'll try to get a better pic of them later.

Full shot of me and you can see a little of our decorated house. :)

A better shot of the skirt and boots

And another shot of me and the house. Ain't it cute?

What do you all think? Do you like the boots? How about the skirt? Do you prefer a heel or no heel on your boots? Liz/Hannah LOVES my boots but she hates that there is no heel. :P

God bless!

If I Die Young

This song, by The Band Perry, is so beautiful! Liz and I have been singing it for two days and we still can't get it out of our heads. Check it out, but be sure to shut off my music at the bottom of the blog first.

P.S. Sorry I haven't really posted, I've been uninspired. :(
P.P.S. The girl in the video looks freakishly like my cousin! Every time I watch it I'm a little creeped out at the similarities.

The Student's Psalm

I felt the need to post this today. :)

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not flunk;
He keepeth me from lying down when I should be studying.
He leadeth me beside the water cooler for a study break;
He restores my faith in study guides.
He leads me to better study habits
For my grades' sake.
Yea, tho' I walk through the valley of borderline grades,
I will not have a nervous breakdown;
For Thou art with me;
My prayers and my friends, they comfort me.
Thou givest me the answers in moments of blankness;
Thou anointest my head with understanding,
My test paper runneth over with questions I recognize.
Surely passing grades and flying colors shall follow me
All the days of examinations;
And I shall not have to dwell in this university
Forever!
Amen!

Goodbye teen years!

Yes, farewell to teen-hood and a hearty hello to young adult-hood! Yesterday was my 20th birthday and I must say I feel quite old. :P

I started off the day by going to Mass. I was planning on going by myself because everyone else had school to do that day, but I had the treat of Mom and Grandma joining me as well. It was a very sweet - not to mention rare - experience to go to Mass with just two other family members. It was also enjoyable to listen to them relive the day of my birth.

You see, my parents went through seven years of infertility before they were able to have me, so the day I was born was a rather big occasion for the whole family.

Anyway, after Mass, a birthday blessing from Father, and a McDonald's Mocha Frappe, we came home and started the day with the rest of the family. We had muffins for breakfast, and then everyone started school while I - who had the day off - went to the sewing room to contentedly sew a present for my Grandma - I'll tell you why in a minute.

I tell you, I sure wish that's all I had to do was sew like that everyday. Oh well.

Moving on, we went out to Olive Garden for dinner. It was heavenly! I love their bread sticks. :) We came home opened presents, and everyone being too full from dinner to eat desert, sang happy birthday to me, I blew out the candles, and we ate the desert for breakfast this morning. :P

As for my grandma's present, since she's been here I have noticed that she really enjoys our aprons. So, having learned how to make a replica of the apron I own while I was in VA, I bought some material and made an apron for her as a thank you. Grandam is the sweetest person, she gives and asks for nothing. For my birthday she bought me a new laptop -which I sorely needed - payed for our Olive Garden dinner, and more. So this was my little way of saying thank you to her, and I'm so glad I did. She says this is the first apron she has owned and I think it meant double that I made it for her.

I'll post pictures from my birthday later, I must run now to take Lizzy to her voice lessons. TTFN!

Previous post and Virginia

Hello one and all! I feel utterly guilty for not posting for so long. Please forgive me, I have felt uninspired and busy since the last post.

As for the last post, I think I need to clear some things up. I have not seen the movie Come What May. It was only recommend to me and I looked it up to find out more about it and found this *points below* is what I found. I personally thought the acting was lacking. However, the reason I posted the clip was because I really liked the pro-life message/explanation it gave.

That being said, I just got back last night from Virginia where I was visiting some very dear friends. Lizzy wasn't able to come with me because she couldn't afford a plane ticket. We missed you dearly Liz! I left on Tuesday the 3rd, and spent a marvelous week with my friends and their family. Our week consisted of shopping, talking, ice cream, coffee, talking, My Big, Fat, Greek Wedding, talking, Moonstruck, talking, more movies, curlers, Chinese food, Bananagrams (a favorite game), Olive Garden, Mass and adoration, and many more girly things. All in all a memorable week. Love you Ray and Em!

Must go now, Liz is getting mad that I'm still on the comp preventing her form getting to sleep. Anyway, ttyl!
