I've been having a lot of thoughts (and prayers) lately about - for a lack of better words - my future. I have exactly two Geometry Tests and a research report on Roe v. Wade to finish and I am officially finished with high school forever! Along with the knowledge that I will be signing up for fall classes at the local community college soon, I've wondered if I really want to major in Early Childhood Ed. I just have this feeling that I want to do something more meaningful with my life. I mean let's face it, Early Childhood Education is not exactly the most exciting thing out there.
I played around with the idea to photography, because over the past months I have become infatuated with wedding and graduation photo shoots. I love them! However, I have absolutely no experience with this field of work and it is not something that you can really live off of unless you are really good.
The other majors that I have somewhat of an interest in is Theology, Philosophy, and maybe Politics (yeah I know, I'm weird). However, there are not a lot of profitable job opportunities in Theology and Philosophy unless you want to teach and that usually requires a PhD, and I am not doing that!
I had the craziest idea last night while I was lying in bed. You see, I love to plan, organize, and administrate events. It's so much fun! So as this dreamer had the idea to form an organization that would focus on evangelizing -so to speak - on three things dear to her heart: The Eucharist, the pro-life movement, and feminine modesty. Additionally, she even thought of patron saints for each topic, a boy and girl saint for each. She continued to dream of how awesome it would be to hold a national conference every year that would have have three sections - one for every topic - and have top Catholics from around the US to speak on them. And I mean big names! Like Father Frank Pavone (for pro-life), Colleen Hammond (modesty), and Scott Hann (the Eucharist). Then this crazy girl went even further to say, "Hey! To go along with modesty, we can have a section of chivalry for the guys! Then we could have someone like Doug Barry come and speak to them!"
Yeah. I got kind of carried away, but it was so much fun dreaming about it! Then I came back to reality that 1) there are soooo many groups/organizations popping up all over the place that are aimed at youth and young adults that it would be ridiculous to start another one; 2) I don't know how to start one; 3) I'm still in high school! :P So yeah, not happening.
Well, I think that's enough rambling for today.
Oh! One more thought: did anyone watch the first Republican Presidential debate on Fox News last night? It was so much fun. I am so voting for Rick Santorum! He's Catholic, conservative, has 7 kids, and is pro-life!

Cakes, Friends, and a Ball...oh my!
Lately I've been doing a lot of thinking about college. Something that come up recently is the idea of attending a culinary arts school with a focus on baking and pastries. There are three different levels of accomplishment for that: Certificate (1 year), Associates (2 years), and Bachelors (4 years). I don't like to cook that much - although I love watching the challenges on Food Network - but I truly love to decorate cakes! They are so much fun to create and memorable to the person you make them for. Here is a picture of the cake I did for Gabriel's 1st Communion back in '09.
*sigh* Unfortunately, there is no program near us that I could attend. The one I would like to attend is in MI and extremely up-to-date, is considered the best in the country, and has world renowned chef's that teach there. However, it is much to far from my house to commute and I am not going to be staying in co-ed dorms! :P *giggles* I was even looking at programs that were in my best friend's state, but there is nothing near her house either. I guess God wants me to stick with community college after all.
Moving on, the snow is leaving! I really hope it melts quickly, because I want grass and warm weather!
Rachel and Emily are coming to visit! Exactly three weeks and they'll be here. Exactly three weeks and three days is the Regency Ball! I am so excited! This year it is being held in South Bend, Indiana. IT IS GORGEOUS! Click here if you want to see pictures of the Masquerade Ball that was held there last August. This year the Ball starts at 11am instead of 6pm...and we live a little ways from South Bend. Therefore, this year we will be getting up at the bonnie hour of 5am and leaving the house at 8am just to make sure we get there on time. Due to this we will be taking pictures at the ball this time not at the house.
Well, I must scoot off to do school. TTFN!

Stupid, stupid, stupid Catholic college!
Look! Look!!! The heretics that have the nerve to call themselves "Catholic" are at it again! Make sure to look at the pictures on the link.
It’s one thing to invite or allow a pro-abortion president to speak at your Catholic university. It’s another to give in to his request that you cover up your Catholic identity.
Which is what Georgetown has done.
Georgetown University says it covered over the monogram “IHS”–symbolizing the name of Jesus Christ—because it was inscribed on a pediment on the stage where President Obama spoke at the university on Tuesday and the White House had asked Georgetown to cover up all signs and symbols there.
First point of interest here is that the White House “asked Georgetown to cover up all signs and symbols”. Why? Has any president ever done that? Has Reagan or Bush or Clinton or Bush (or any former president) ever asked Georgetown to cover up all signs and symbols of their Catholic identity?! Obama did.
And this didn’t pose a problem for them?
No.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the “IHS” monogram that had previously adorned the stage at Georgetown’s Gaston Hall was still covered up–when the pediment where it had appeared was photographed by CNSNews.com.
(See the photographs there. They did a good job visually telling this story.)
“In coordinating the logistical arrangements for yesterday’s event, Georgetown honored the White House staff’s request to cover all of the Georgetown University signage and symbols behind Gaston Hall stage,” Julie Green Bataille, associate vice president for communications at Georgetown, told CNSNews.com.“The White House wanted a simple backdrop of flags and pipe and drape for the speech, consistent with what they’ve done for other policy speeches,” she added. “Frankly, the pipe and drape wasn’t high enough by itself to fully cover the IHS and cross above the GU seal and it seemed most respectful to have them covered so as not to be seen out of context.”
Most respectful to whom? Out of what context? He’s standing on a stage in a history-steeped, prominent Catholic college in Washington. No amount of PR spin can cover Georgetown’s capitulation of their values and very identity in ‘honoring the White House request’. They cut some plywood to fit, painted it black as an unobtrusive background, and used it to cover the gold ‘IHS’ and cross on that stately pediment.
Roman Catholics traditionally use “IHS” as an abbreviation for Jesus’ name. According to the Catholic Encyclopedia, “St. Ignatius of Loyola adopted the monogram in his seal as general of the Society of Jesus (1541) and thus became the emblem of his institute.” The Society of Jesus is the formal name for the Jesuits.
And Georgetown is a “prestigious” Jesuit school. Shame on them.
One thing’s for certain. When Obama speaks at the commencement ceremony in South Bend in May, there will be no draping over the Notre Dame who stands atop the golden dome.
What a mess our country is in. *rolls eyes in disgust*

An Outrage!!!
I can't beleive it! I just can't beleive it!.......okay, I can beleive it. :P Read this email and please participate!
Like many of you, we received the news last Friday that President Barack Obama will deliver the commencement address at the University of Notre Dame this May.
In addition to delivering the address, the President will receive an honorary doctor of laws degree. In short, one of our nation’s premier Catholic institutions will honor the President, and hold out him as an example to its students as someone worthy of emulation!
Given President Obama’s utterly shameful record on life, how could a Catholic university honor him?
The University could have politely and quietly told the White House that their standing invitation to the President of the United States was not available this year. Better yet, they could have said that while they would welcome his contributions to the public debate over how to solve our economic crisis, his regrettable policies in favor of a culture of death make it impossible for them to welcome him.
Notre Dame has regrettably hosted pro-abortion speakers in the past, but President Obama is a champion of the abortion cause. Sadly, it is now indisputable that our President has become the world’s leading promoter of abortion, embryo-killing cloning and research, taxpayer-funded abortion, and a vigorous opponent of conscience protections for medical professionals. His campaign promises to find ‘common ground’ have sadly been ignored, or perhaps were simply lies. And this Administration has only just begun.
Is there anything a president could do that would disqualify him or her from delivering such a prestigious address?
If there is such a threshold, Barack Obama has not disqualified himself with Notre Dame officials.
And so we must act.
We have spoken with professors, students, and leaders at Notre Dame over the past 48 hours and have concluded that a massive protest will be practically difficult, and even counterproductive. The University has a right as a private school to prevent all protestors from entering campus, and could legally arrest those who violate this rule. Secondly, a protest could create exactly the wrong impression.
Therefore, we are recommending four courses of action.
1) CatholicVote.org has partnered with the Cardinal Newman Society, a dynamic organization dedicated to the renewal of Catholic higher education in establishing www.NotreDameScandal.com. Together our aim is to collect thousands of signatures and present them to University officials. Sign the petition now.
2) Contact Notre Dame and charitably express your outrage. CatholicVote.org is large enough to have a major impact, and we urge you to contact Notre Dame President Father Jenkins at (574) 631-5000.
3) Join your fellow CatholicVote.org members in a prayer of reparation on May 17 from 2-4 PM. We encourage you to organize local groups to pray for mercy for the decision by Notre Dame, but also for our nation for continuing to permit the tragedy of abortion.
***If you live in the Midwest, or near Notre Dame University, we invite you to personally join us in prayer at the Grotto on the campus of Notre Dame from 2-4 PM on May 17, where we will be joined by several Notre Dame professors, alumni, and current students. The gathering will be a peaceful and prayerful.
4) Please forward this message to your family and friends. Let them know about Notre Dame's decision to honor the most pro-abortion President in American history. We must not remain silent over this scandal!
