Obama seeks to take away religious rights of doctors and health care providers who refuse to perform abortions

Here is another one! Please help and do your part!

Urgent: send your e-mail to the White House today!
March 3, 2009
Dear Michael,
According to several news agencies, President Barack Obama will rescind the "conscience rule" that protects health workers who refuse to participate in abortions or other medical procedures that go against their moral and religious beliefs. If the rule is rescinded, doctors, nurses and other health care workers could lose their jobs or be punished professionally for adhering to their sincerely held religious convictions. Obama's proposal would take away their religious freedom.

The current rule empowers federal health officials to cut off federal funding for any state or local government, hospital, clinic, health plan, doctor's office or other entity if it does not accommodate employees who exercise their right of conscience. It applies to more than 584,000 health care facilities.

The Obama administration is doing the bidding of pro-abortion advocacy groups who seek to penalize health care providers who refuse to participate in abortions.

According to The Washington Post, Obama administration officials stressed that the proposal will be subject to 30 days of public comment. That is why it is so very important for you to let the White House hear from you today.

Take Action!
Send your e-mail to President Obama opposing his plan to rescind the "conscience rule."

Forward this to family and friends and ask them to do the same.
Thank you for caring enough to get involved. If you feel our efforts are worthy of support, would you
consider making a small tax-deductible contribution to help us continue?

I actually agree with Obama on this issue and the solution to this is quite simple.

If a person goes to a physician who will not perform a required procedure that the patient needs then he or she should go to another physician. Simple as that.

If it is a pharmacist who will not fill a required prescription then the customer needs to go to a different pharmacy. I am sure the business, Walgreens, CVS, etc. will deal with the pharmacist as they lose more and more business! :)

I go to a physician to get medical advice, not a religious lecture. It is NOT a question of free speech but rather a question as to what is the appropriate role of the physician at that time.

While I have no objection to my Doctor or any Doctor being a very religious person he or she is not there as a minister but rather as a person of science and should function as one. If he or she wants to practice ministry then do it outside this work setting where science is the foundation, not religion. It's a matter of priority.

If a person's appendix needs to come out, it can't be prayed out. The science (knowledge of the procedure) and skill of a surgeon is needed. It is the science which saves lives.

Again, this issue really is quite simple and a no brainer.

Dear Beth Ann,
I believe that you misunderstood the article. Obama wants to take back the rule that health workers can refuse to preform medical procedures, such as abortion, for moral and religious reasons. They will *have* to preform these procedures. You are right that this is not a question of free speech, but an attack on religious and personal freedom. Please take the time to re-read the article.

And just as a side note, science is the study of God's creation. God created everything and sustains all; therefore, it is impossible, even though people try, to remove God/religion from science. If you remove religion, you remove truth and morality. And remember, Truth is a Person. ;)

God bless,
Victoria

Beth Ann--Basically, Obama wants to force people to act against their conscience, with no regard for their religious or moral belifs. And it doesn't surprise me in the least that he would do this! >:(
