Pirate Rum Cake

This is hilarious!!! We received it through an email, and I was seriously rolling on the floor laughing!!!! I changed the title of the recipe, too.

BEST PIRATE RUM CAKE EVER

1 or 2 quarts Rum 1 c. butter
1 tsp sugar 2 lg. eggs
1 c. dried fruit baking soda
1 tsp soda lemon juice
Brown sugar nuts

Before you start, sample the Rum to check for quality. Good isn’t it? Now go ahead! Select a large mixing bowl, meas. Cup, etc. Check the Rum again. It must be right. To be sure the Rum is of highest quality, pour one level cup of Rum into a glass and drink it as fact as you can. Repeat. With an electric mixer beat 1 c. of butter in a large fluffy boul. Add 1 seaspoon of thugar and beat again. Mennwhile, make sure that the Rum is of the finest quality. Try another cup. Open the second qt if necessary. Add 2 arge leggs, 2 cups fried druit and beat till high. If druit gets stuck in the beaters, just pry it loose with a drewscriver. Sample the Rum again, checking for tonscisticity. Next sift 3 cups of pepper or salt (it really doesn’t matter). Sample the Rum again. Sift ½ pint of lemon juice. Fold in chopped butter and strained nuts. Add 1 babblespoon of brown thugar or whatever color you can find. Wix mel. Grease oven and turn cake pan to 350 gredecs. Now pour the whole mess into the boven and ake. Check the Rum again and go to bed.

Note: Serve lots of Hot coffee to your guests.

What did y'all think? *starts laughing hysterically*

Changes

I decided to change up again.....I am very fickle. I changed my formatting and decided to change the title of my blog.....yet again. I would reeeealy appreciate any suggestions for a title. My formatting has some purple for Advent, and I changed up my "About Me" spot a little bit. ;)

What a week!

Jello!!! Sorry I haven't written for a long time....I've been waaaay busy!!! Here was my schedule this past week:

Mon-Wen: School

Thursday: Shcool and play practice

Friday: School, clean the house, have company to celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe, and then stay up till 1:30 in the morning watching "Boys Town".

Sat: Baked all day for a wedding shower on Sunday, plan CCD class, take a shower, bed by 10:30

Sunday (this is the hard day): Up at 6 am, dress, load everything in the car, go to 7:55 Mass, teach CCD, Benediction, from 10:30-3:00 we prepared the Church Hall for the Wedding Shower, we set tables, prepared food, rearranged things, set up the tea cup table (the shower was a kind of tea party theme, and each person got to pick their own unique cup and matching saucer, and and take it home with them), go through instructions, 3:00-5:30 we greeted and served guests, handled the presents, everyone left and we washed dishes, put away food, cleared tables, put away candles and other tables setting stuff, and then proceeded to leave and collapse in bed!

What a day!!! If it hadn't been for the clock in the Hall, I would have sworn we were there until midnight! But in reality we were at Church for 12 hours that day and we left around 8pm. *sigh* Well, at least the engaged couple, David and Karly, were pleased. They both attende Ave Maria college in FL, and are a perfect example of an engaged couple: they have their relationship centered around Christ! Well, TFN!!!!

Chastity is a Lifestyle

(A poem by an unwed teen mother)

Chastity... the key toHeaven's Gate.
Chastity, if he really loves you, he'll wait.
It's all about the truth, love and understanding.
If he really respected you, he wouldn't be so demanding.

Don't be fooled by Satan's schemes.
A lot of hings can happen. Know what I mean?
Don't give in to every word he says.
'Cause you'll be miserable for the rest of your days.

Trust in the Lord and never lose your faith.
Just wait for the time He sends your mate.
But if you think you've found him, and you think it's true,
The only way to tell is if he waits for you.

So if he has any plans to leave and walk out the door,
Let him go and remember, you're worth waiting for.

Medjugorje

Dear Readers,
I recently read a post on a Catholic blog that disturbed me so here is my reply to that post:

Dear Grace,
I recently read your post titled “Our Lady of Medjugorje is FAKE! -Why?”, and I was deeply concerned and disturbed, because my family firmly believes in the apparitions of the Blessed Mother in Medjugorje, and I would like to correct some of the information in your post, and at the same time tell you why I believe in Our Lady of Medjugorje.

First of all, no Pope has ever proclaimed Medjugorje fake. It’s a fact. No where is there a written document or proclamation, from the Vatican, condemning Medjugorje or prohibiting private pilgrimages. Proof: “When, some time ago, the news was spread that Vatican had forbidden pilgrimages to Medjugorje, the spokesman of the Holy See Joaquin Navarro-Valls declared: ‘You cannot say people cannot go there until it has been proven false. This has not been said, so anyone can go if they want.’” (Catholic News Service 21.8.1996.)

One thing you said was: “In 1985 Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger – now Pope Benedict – banned pilgrimages to the site, but this has been widely ignored.” First of all, Cardinal Ratzinger never banned pilgrimages; and even if he had, he had no authority to, since he was not the Pope, and not even the bishop of the area! As a matter of fact, he spoke positively about it: “Concerning Medjugorje, the Cardinal – now the Pope – Joseph Ratzinger spoke very positively about it in his book if interviews “Zur Lage des Glaubens” published in 1986. There is an interview about the situation of faith in the Church and in the world, where he speaks positively about Medjugorje as a place of prayer, a place where people are converted, spurred by Mary, our Mother.”

Another reason to believe in Medjugorje is that our most beloved, Pope John Paul II supported it. In a private conversation with the visionary Mirjana Soldo the Pope said: "If I were not Pope I would already be in Medjugorje confessing.”(1987) Also, in Feb. 1995, Pope John Paul II, in response to a question asked by the Archbishop of Asuncion, La Paz, Bolivia, said "Authorize everything that regards Medjugorje.” In addition, he said, "Medjugorje is a great center of spirituality.” This was the Holy Father's comment during a February 1990 conversation, as reported by Bishop Murilo Krieger, Auxiliary Bishop of Florianopolis, Brazil, made prior to His Grace's fourth Medjugorje pilgrimage. The Holy Father assented to Bishop Krieger's request and gave his papal blessing to the visionaries (National Catholic Register, April 29, 1990). Now if Pope John Paul II gave his Papal blessing to the visionaries, that’s enough to convince me it is authentic!

One last reason involves a personal experience by my mom. My family was attending a Medjugorje Conference in California, and Our Lady was appearing to Ivan Dragicevic in a room (and my dad was working as security, so he was blessed to be in the room at the time). A crowd was around the door to the room (my sister and I were right by the door and my mom was about 20-30 feet away), and when a lady opened the door (from the inside) to tell the crowd that Mary was appearing, my mom “felt a cool, fresh breeze of air and smelled roses”. My mom looked around quickly and no roses were anywhere in sight, and since it passed so suddenly, it was not perfume, and she even asked a person next to her if he smelt roses, to which he replied, “No.” And I will have you know that my mom has an extremely sensitive nose! My sister also smelt the roses. So, there is first hand proof of Mary appearing to one of the visionaries, Ivan.

Now, if you still decide not to believe in the apparitions of Medjugorje, that’s fine, but please do not write, proclaim, or say that it is false! Until the Vatican has made an official statement that Medjugorje is false, people are allowed to believe in and make pilgrimages to Medjugorje!

Thank you and God bless,
Victoria M.
___________________________

May I humbly submit to you that we avoid the criticism of spiritual events which have affected so many thousands of lives with a deeper faith; the evil one is active at moments of great grace. Our Lord tells us you shall know a tree by its fruit: look at the great fruit of Medjugorje!! No example you can give hides the great light of grace which has illuminated thousands of changed lives turned to Christ. If there are any dark shadows, clouds of misunderstanding, the dust of doubt, the evil one is surely there. Beware! Be sure of your sources of information, and avoid a spirit of critical judgment which tears down and gives scandal. Sometimes we seek to spread truth and stop what we perceive as error, but we might be in fact spreading error and stifling God’s great work. Pray for a spirit of understanding and read for yourself the sweet messages of your Mother calling her children to a greater faith in her Son.

God bless,

First Week of Advent

I should have posted this sooner. *blushes*

"Advent" does not mean "expectation", as some may think. It is a translation of the Greek word parousia which means "presence" or, more accurately, "arrival", i.e., the beginning of a presence. In antiquity the word was a technical term for the presence of a king or ruler and also of the god being worshiped, who bestows his parousia on his devotees for a time. "Advent", then, means a presence begun, the presence being that of God. Advent reminds us, therefore, of two things: first, that God's presence in the world has already begun, that he is present though in a hidden manner; second, that his presence has only begun and is not yet full and complete, that it is in a state of development, of becoming and progressing toward its full form. His presence has already begun and we, the faithful, are the ones through whom he wishes to be present in the world. Through our faith, hope, and love he wants his light to shine over and over again in the night of the world... That night is "today" whenever the "word" again becomes "flesh" or genuine human reality. "The Christ child comes" in a real sense whenever human being act out of authentic love for the Lord.

Happy Belated Thanksgiving!

No, I am not drinking, wine, champagne, or any other alcoholic beverage....it's Sparkling Apple Cider, and soooo good! :) Sorry it took me so long to post this! We had a marvelous, white Thanksgiving and were stuffed from all the good food! I hope your Thanksgiving was just as pleasant.

Here is a couple of pictures of my brother who decided to be Frodo (despite his height), in a family play. Isn't he cute? Lol!

The ring didn't show very well in this one.

Frodo and a rather long Sting.

This pic was an attempt to make him look shorter. *shrugs*

What to do....

...I'm bored. Nobody is posting over at the forum, mom and dad are gone shopping, and there is absolutely, positively, nothing to do!!!! Of course, I could go read the Fellowship, but....I don't' feel like reading. And I could post my FBI pictures (not that I could outdo Paul),but I am embarrassed to post them. Oh well. Hey! Here are some funny LOTR pictures (and one about Jack Sparrow) I found! Hehehe!!! In case you can't read the words I'll post them underneath each photo.

"Left hand, blue!"

"I'd tried my hardest but that fire on that hill just won't blow out!"

"Did no one come to rescue me just because they missed me?"

"Row, row, row, the boat......merrily down the stream.......once the ring belongs to me, I'll only need a queen." (That one is my fav!)
I'm off to see if anyone has posted on the forum....even though that is highly unlikely....and if no one has posted, I will read the Fellowship! Ta-ta!

My second award!!!

Trina, received the award and posted, "OK, how's this, if you are a Catholic blogger reading this post, you can have the award. OK? OK." So, since I am a Catholic, and periodically post Catholic things, I took the liberty of accepting the award! *big grin* I am not sure, but I believe Lady Rose gave me the award as well....*shrugs shoulders*.
So, here it is!
And I am going to copy Trina because I am being lazy right now. :P
And the Rules:

1) Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person that has granted the award and his or her blog link.
2) Pass the award to 15 other blogs that are worthy of this acknowledgment.
3) Remember to contact each of them to let them know they have been chosen for this award.
Ugh, I have to think of 15? I don't even know that many blogs!! :P

OK, how's this, if you are a Catholic blogger reading this post, you can have the award. OK? OK.

Guess where I am?

This is sooooo cool! I am in the car typing on my dad's work computer.......I'm lovin' it! I have never posted from the car before! I am on the way home from St. Martha's in Okemos (at the moment we are on the freeway in Lansing) where my mom, dad, and I had to go through a training course for teaching CCD. B-O-R-I-N-G.

Anyway, gas in town is $1.75!!!!!!

Gotta run!

Lord of the Rings Makeover

To all LOTR friends who have been striving to get me to read the books,
I am going to try to read the books. Yes, I have finally decided to start reading the Fellowship (from the beginning) and see how I like it. I will admit that I am (and have been) taken with the Elves for quite some time and when I took the Character quiz I found that I really am at heart! Whoop!!! Three times I was Legolas, and once I was Eowyn.

In the meantime, I have decided that it was time to refresh this blog with a new look. So, What do you guys think of my blogs new look? Please leave a comment and let me know!!!! Oh! And the title is my name in Elf. *grin*

Wow....

.....this is scarily accurate!

Your Hair Should Be Red

You are a passionate person... both in love and in life.

You have many causes that are important to you. You can be very intense.

You are very fiery. You speak up, and you don't mince words.

You also have a very flamboyant personality. You love to show off.

You are both eccentric and expressive. You like to share your unique point of view.

You can become quite impassioned. So impassioned that you can seem a little overbearing.

What Color Hair Should You Have?

You Should Drive a Blue Car

You're the type of driver who isn't hung up on the what car you drive.

You don't need a flashy car to show off your wealth or style.

Instead, you go for value and reliability. You're quite practical.

You're a great driver, but you don't show off. Part of your skill is not standing out on the road.

You Are the Bow Pose

You are an open hearted person. You seek connections and make them easily.

You are naturally generous - especially with your love and your time.

You have a knack for thinking up interesting ideas. You are an inventor and a creator.

You approach everything in life with a relaxed attitude. You accept what you can't change.

Prayers for Ashley

We got a phone call last night that my cousin's best friend had died. Her name is Ashely, and she would have been 18 in December. She was found dead in her bed Sunday morning. We don't know the cause of her death, but please pray for her soul and her family (who now only have one son left). Thank you.

Universal Declaration of Human Rights petition needs signing

Please participate; this will affect you future, and your children's future! This only takes a minute to make a difference for the unborn.

On December 10th, pro-abortion groups will present petitions asking the United Nation's General Assembly to make abortion a universally recognized human right. The Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute created an alternate petition drive that calls for government to interpret the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as protecting the unborn child from abortion. They need at least 100,000 signatures by December 10th, the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Please go to the Website:http://www.c-fam.org/publications/id.95/default.asp and sign the petition. If you know anyone that would be interested in doing the same you are welcome to forward this on to whomever.

Today:

I went to my first play in Michigan!!!! It was awesome! The title: "The Rose of Treason".

The Rose of Treason, a true story on the lives of Hans and Sophie Scholl is one of breathtaking courage, selflessness, and utter faith in what is right. The White Rose was a non-violent resistance movement in Nazi Germany which called for active opposition to dictator Adolph Hitler's regime. The group became known for an anonymous leaflet campaign, lasting from June 1942 until February 1943. The six core members of the group were arrested by the Gestapo and convicted of treason. Today, the members of the White Rose are honored in Germany as great heroes. This drama is an inspiring tribute to the goodness of humanity shining even in the darkest moments of history.

And darn it, I forgot to bring a camera! *hides in shame* It was performed by Homeschool Performing Arts (HPA) and it was cool because the actors' facial appearances resembled the real people!

Here is something sent to my family today. I love this clip!!!! Unfortunately I don't know how to post the video. *hits the computer* So here is the link: http://www.simpletruths.com/simpletruths/a.aspx?af=219&mo=stsr

Dear Lanta,

This post is just for you! (But if any one else want to take part that's fine.) Here are two "right side up"(:P) pictures of me so you can decide if I look older with or without glasses.

Check this out!

My brother Danny composed this song and he has never had a single piano lesson!

*ruffles up with sisterly pride* He needs a name for it and is asking for suggestions. So, names anyone?

To cut or not to cut? That is the question.

I am having the most difficult time deciding whether or not to cut my hair.
As you can see, it's rather long, which can be annoying at times.

This is just a dopey picture my brother took. Hehe!

Anyway, should I cut it, and if so, how short? I was thinking off the shoulders, because I haven't had my hair that short yet and it might look cute. *shrugs* If I do cut my hair I will donate it to Locks of Love.
So, to cut or not to cut?

Don't I look older with glasses? And no, I don't wear glasses (these are my Mom's).

It's over.

Barack Hussein Obama. President of the United States of America. Now the end begins.

I did it!

I just got back! :) We (my dad and I) didn't have to wait in line or anything; just walked in, filled out the Secret Ballot (I like the sound of that...it sounds so mysterious!), stuck it in the machine and left. Dad was a little frustrated with me, though, because I took so long to fill out the ballot *rolls eyes* Jeesh, it's my first time voting! And those stupid little circles you have to fill in are soooooooo annoying....especially for me, because I'm a perfectionist, so I have make sure I don't go outside the bubble and that I color in every spot. Oh well. Gotta do school.

12:31 PM

Here I go! I'm walking out the door to put in my vote for McCain!

IT'S HERE!!!!!!

Election Day 2008 is here!!!! I can't wait to get to those polls and put my vote in for McCain! My family today is fasting on bread and water, and every hour (starting at 9 AM) we will be saying the Novena in this post, the emergency novena, which is the Memorary said every hour, the Chaplet, and also say the Patriotic Rosary. God bless America!

This November,

Stand up for what you believe in.

One Day Left...

...till the US is changed forever......Alright, I am assuming that Obama will win the elections, who doesn't?! I pray and hope that he will not get into office, because if he does the US will never be the same; schools, family life, life itself, a personal rights, freedom of speech, and government. This man scares me and many others; all I see when I think of him in the White House is a Communistic government. I am afraid for homeschoolers like myself, that he would make homeschooling illegal. I envision that he will pass laws that will take the rights of parents away to raise their children as they see fit. I envision lives of millions of unborn children never having a chance to be born, and so many other things. Fellow citizens of the United States of America, this is what I see if Barack Hussein Obama is elected tomorrow, November 4, 2008; that the Land of the Free will be just another land of communism and fear. I implore you to give your vote to John McCain and Sarah Palin, so that the USA can go on being the Land of the Free!

Powerful Novena for Elections 2008

I borrowed this from Lady Rose:
This is a novena to the Infant of Prague, a novena for an urgent need. Our country is in a very urgent need. It is permissible that: In cases of great urgency, a novena of hours may be made instead of days. The prayers should, if possible, be repeated at the same time every hour for nine consecutive hours.
I strongly encourage each and every one of you and your families, to pray this novena on election day, November 4th. Every single prayer counts and is needed!
PLEASE pass this novena along and urge everyone you know to pray it on November 4th as well! Our prayers DO count, and we must storm heaven with them!

Suggested intention: That this election day, our country may elect a holy, wise, pro-life, pro-family president and other political leaders.

Powerful Novena in Urgent Need to the Infant of Prague
O Jesus, who said, "Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you," through the intercession of Mary, Your most holy Mother, I knock, I seek, I ask that my prayer be granted.
(Mention your request)

O Jesus, who said "All that you ask of the Father in My Name He will grant you," through the intercession of Mary, Your most holy Mother, I humbly and urgently ask Your Father in Your Name that my prayer be granted.
(Mention your request)

O Jesus, who said "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My word shall not pass," through the intercession of Mary, Your most Holy Mother, I feel confident that my prayer will be granted.
(Mention your request)
Amen.

Another Meme!

Hurray! I have been tagged by Lady Rose; thank you darling!

THE RULES:
A) Link to the person who tagged you,
B) List the rules,
C) Write six random things about yourself,
D) Tag six-ish people by leaving comments on their blogs and let the person who tagged you know that you've written the post.

1) I have ultra thick hair! Seriously, everyone I have talked to says they have never felt or seen hair thicker than mine. Although, it is a bit of a pain at times because I can't put it up in clips because it is sooo thick. *pouts* I got my mom's genes in reverse; Mom has fine, thin hair and thick hard nails, I have super thick hair and flabby thin nails. Odd, huh?

2) I can wiggle my bottom eyelids. I'm not kidding. Yeah, I know it's weird and that most people wiggle their ears, but I can do it.

3) I have an Internet sister that lives in Illinois and is my pirate partner. I only see her once a year (except this year I saw her several times). Love you Amanda!

4) I have taken 2 years of piano and my 13 year old brother (who has never taken any lessons) can pick up music on the piano and play it within a few minutes.....and I can't! He even composes his own songs, and they are really good!

5) I used to pronounce Arkansas as Ar-Kansas and Canadians as Can-a (short vowel sound)-dians.

6) Last one......*drum roll*......I am married to King Caspian X of Narnia! Yup, on the Fairy Tale Novels forum I was recently married to Caspian. *sighs* What a guy. :) Other girls on there are married to fictional characters and boy do we have fun! Currently I am tied to a chair next to my husband, and unconscious from a punch our pirate captor gave me! Cool, huh?!

So that is my list of random...things. *smile*

Wow!

I received this email from a friend I thought it was worth looking into too:

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT.
This will make you re-think: A Trivia question in Sunday school: How long is the beast allowed to have authority in Revelation?

Revelation Chapter 13 tells us it is 42 months, and you know what that is......Almost a four-year term of a Presidency!!!! All I can say is 'Lord, Have mercy on us!' According to The Book of Revelation the anti-Christ will be a man, in his 40's, of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal....the prophecy says that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is in power, will destroy everything. Do we recognize this description?? I STRONGLY URGE each one of you to post this as many times as you can! Each opportunity that you have to send it to a friend or Media outlet. Do it! I refuse to take a chance on this unknown candidate who came out of nowhere.
From: Dr. John Tisdale
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As I was listening to a news program last night, I watched in horror as Barack Obama made the statement with pride. . .'we are no longer a Christian nation; we are now a nation of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, . . .' As with so many other statements I've heard him (and his wife) make, I never thought I'd see the day that I'd hear something like that from a presidential candidate in this nation. To think our forefathers fought and died for the right for our nation to be a Christian nation-and to have this man say with pride that we are no longer that. How far this nation has come from what our founding fathers intended it to be. I hope that each of you will do what I'm doing now--send your concerns, written simply and sincerely, to the Christians on your email list. With God's help and He is still in control of this nation and all else, we can show this man and the world in November that we are, indeed, still a Christian nation! Please pray for our nation!
I am not responsible for the content of this email or its correctness. (I am not even sure if that is what I am supposed to put, but you get the idea. *grin*)
Protest now and protect Our Lord's Image!
Dear Readers:
I regret to inform you that the blasphemous play Corpus Christi is showing at the Rattlestick Theater in New York – because the play depicts Our Lord and the apostles as homosexuals!
Send your instant e-protest message NOW.
According to the press report Corpus Christi includes a Christ-like figure who has homosexual relations with his apostles! Besides, the play uses Gospel passages in a contrived way. The New York Post, for example, reported:
"'Art Thou King of the queers?' McNally's Pontius Pilate character asks. 'Thou sayest,' Joshua answers."
This is unacceptable!
Defend Jesus' honor by peacefully, but loudly raising your voice against this blasphemy. And please offer prayers and sacrifices in reparation.
GO here to send your e-protest message NOW.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Robert Ritchie
Youtube Update!
Dear Readers:
36,994 petitions…1,873 holy hours…thousands of rosaries, letters, calls and faxes…YouTube still will NOT pull the 43 Holy Eucharist desecration videos from its site.
But the reaction is going global and we won't give up. Protestors from countries like Poland, Germany, Brazil, Australia, Britain, Canada and Russia are joining.
So I'm taking advantage of the growing outrage to triple our push to get the videos removed. And here's what I ask you to do:
Send a NEW petition message via email to Mr. Eric Schmidt, CEO and chairman of Google. Google owns YouTube and their motto is: "Don't be evil."
So please tell YouTube to put an end to this sacrilegious evil.
Send them a petition NOW.
Thank you and please pass on this message to friends and family.
Sincerely,
Robert Ritchie
Youtube Protest Update
"28,692 people have petitioned YouTube to pull the Host Desecration from its site. But they refuse to comply.
Why?
Just yesterday, YouTube removed a video called "Welcome to Saudi Britain" which asks viewers to petition the British government NOT to accept Sharia (Islam) law in Britain.
Contradiction -- YouTube removes an anti-Islam video, but keeps 43 videos showing desecration of the Holy Eucharist in horrible ways -- one was flushed down the toilet!
What should we do in response?
Well, besides expanding our YouTube protest, it’s time to appeal to a higher court: to God in the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar.
That's why I'm doing an act of reparation in front of the Blessed Sacrament.
Will you join me?
The intention is to do reparation for the 43 desecration on YouTube, for all sacrilege against the Holy Eucharist, and for whatever intentions are in your heart.
Thank you for praying with me, and please continue countering the desecration videos on YouTube by seeing the action items below.
Four point action plan to protest the Host desecration videos on YouTube:
1) Go to user fsmdude (person who posted the videos) YouTube channel and flag all his videos. Right under the video window is the link to FLAG. Next choose “hateful or Abusive Content.” Next Choose the sub-section – “promotes hatred or violence.”
Next choose “Religion” as the “group attacked.” Next type in your specific reason, such as "he is desecrating what Catholics hold sacred. YouTube just removed an anti-Sharia video, so why the double standard?”
2) Call YouTube (Google owns YouTube). Dial 650-253-0000, then press 0 for a live person. Tell them, in polite yet firm terms, how upset you are with the 43 desecration videos posted by user fsmdude. Ask them to remove his videos and pledge never to allow such videos again.
3) Send a fax to YouTube/Google 650-253-0001 telling them, in polite yet firm terms, how upset you are with the 43 desecration videos posted by user fsmdude. Ask them to remove his videos and pledge never to allow such videos again.
4) Pass on this 4 point action plan to all your friends and family members. In numbers there is strength. "
PROTEST ALERT!!!
This is was sent to my family and I implore you to read this ans take part in it!
Dear readers,
8,201 people in 7 days have respectfully asked YouTube to remove videos that show the Holy Eucharist being desecrated, including one being flushed down a toilet.
I strongly believe these videos violate YouTube's hate policies. They are sacrilegious and demeaning to God, to Catholics and to the Roman Catholic faith. At first, it seemed YouTube heard us. The videos were pulled yesterday morning. However, by the afternoon, the videos were back! That's why we're turning our petition into a protest!
Click the first link on the page.
Click
here to go to the website.
Please go here to send your NEW protest message to YouTube. By YouTube seemingly resolved to give a platform to these host desecration videos, many Catholics will reasonably conclude they agree with these videos deep anti-Catholic bias. After all, it seems that YouTube has removed videos with content offensive to Jews and Muslims.
For example, a video showing a teenager urinating on the Holocaust memorial was pulled. So was the trailer to a Dutch documentary that claims that Islam inspires intolerance, murder and terror.
But videos with the Holy Eucharist being desecrated seem to be OK. In my opinion, this is a double standard. I know you will not accept this. And that is why I ask you to send your NEW protest message to YouTube.
As I said, our petition has spread like wildfire, 18,201 people have signed on in just 7 days. Other Catholic sites and groups have joined us, which reminds me of the protest we did against e-Bay auctioning consecrated hosts online. We won that one! E-bay changed its policy and no longer facilitates the sale of consecrated hosts.
This victory spurs me to action, to reach out to millions more Catholics out of the one billion Catholics worldwide. Ultimately, I hope 100,000 people sign this new protest message to YouTube.
Will you help do it by passing on this message to your friends and family?
Rome vs USA
"Look at our Government! A mere hollow shell! It has no moral fiber! Content with its luxury, indolence, and profligacy, its extravagant pageants in honor of its silly gods; ruled by an insane dotard and a drunken nonentity!...Rome is doomed! I do not venture to predict when or how Nemesis will arrive-but it is on its way. The Roman Empire is too weak and wicked to survive!" (Chapter 1, page 20)
I read this passage in the book, The Robe, which by the way I highly recommend, and it struck me how similar it was to to America. For those of you who don't about this book, it is based on Centurion Marcellus who crucified Jesus, and his conversion to Christianity. It was made into a motion picture (which my family owns), but, as always, the book rules! It is truly sad how the United States is so like the crumbling Rome and is threatened to fully collapse under our possible, immoral, candidate for President, Barack Obama. We must pray! We must pray hard for the upcoming elections, and that the God would spare the USA from what it deserves for its wickedness.
A Poem
* Once Upon A Time... *
Once upon a time,
To be pregnant out of wedlock was to be a disgrace.
Once upon a time,
Couples got married to bring forth children.
Once upon a time,
Children were thought of as blessings and gifts from God.
Once upon a time,
“Spare the rod, spoil the child” was taken seriously.
Once upon a time,
Parents knew better than the child.
Once upon a time,
People worked on their land instead of their computer.
Once upon a time,
Religion wasn’t forbidden in school.
Once upon a time,
Seniors were respected for the very fact that they were old.
Once upon a time,
Your elders’ advice was valued.
Once upon a time,
To be gay was to be happy.
Once upon a time,
The majority of the US was not liberal.
Once upon a time,
Modesty was the fashion.
Once upon a time,
The US was close to God.
-Yours truly
Please tell me what you think and if you have any suggestions. Thanks!
Thank you one and all!
Wow! Thank you sooooo much Turner, Gibbs, and Swann!!! I had already seen Gibb's and Swann's posts on my birthday (Saturday), but I never even suspected one from you, Turner! Haha! I came on this morning and was confronted with this post I had never seen before! Thank you so much for making my birthday a memorable one. And in answer to that one picture, yes I made a wish before I blew out the candles. I wished that.......HA!, you think I am going to tell you?! Then it wouldn't come true! To my pirate buddies who I have not yet mentioned, Captain Teague and Anna Marie, a hearty thank you to you too; and thank you Claire for your happy birthday post to me. : )
Well, in regards to now being 18 years old......I don't feel any different. The only thing is that now I can vote (for McCain!), I am the only one who can retrieve my medical records, I can finally learn how to drive, and I can get a job without needing a work permit.
Uh, oh. Mom just told me it's time to start school. Well, farwell and thank you once again pirate buddies for making my birthday such a fun and memorable one!
Love,
Captain Coon Sparrow
Literature Poem
When I was in 10th grade I had this assignment for Roman Literature: Create your own myth, including the theme of transformation. Be as creative as possible, while still adhering to the rules of organization and grammar.
I love writing poems (even though they aren't that good), so naturally I was thrilled. Let me know what you think of it!
The Cheetah’s Legend
Along the coast of Africa
Their lived a man of speed.
He entered all contests of swiftness,
In these he won the laurel wreath.
God of speed was Mercury true,
Twas he that gave this mortal his pace.
A gift from a god to him
That had a freckled face.
The young man became full of pride,
He knew the power he possessed to run around the world.
Mercury came to warn him of this danger,
Lest Jove become angered, and sweep away his precious pearl.
The youth was not affected by the news,
He just laughed the laugh of arrogance.
He boldly asked his benefactor,
“Would you like to try the globe’s circumference?”
Mercury accepted the challenge,
Out of anger and fury.
They departed to prepare for the day,
The boy had set the date without a care or worry.
The day arrived fresh and new,
They lined up at the start:
Mercury with his feet of wings
And the youth speedy as a dart.
As Triton blew his horn from off shore,
The two were off and out of sight.
They kept close together for a time,
But ahead the mortal began to creep, much to his delight.
The race completed,
The victor was pleased.
He bragged to all who were near,
But anger had Mercury seized.
With his caduceus in hand,
He raised his hand above,
To strike the youth
With the hardest shove.
Before he could strike,
His hand was held firm.
Apollo had arrived with a message from Jove,
“Don’t kill but change.”
With this said Apollo handed over sacred berries
Used only by the gods in time of need.
So squeezing them out over the youth’s head,
Mercury chanted the words for change with speed.
The man began to crouch to the ground,
His limbs did shorten and his form lengthens.
One facile feature he was allowed to keep,
His freckles spread down to his feet.
He was banished to the open field,
Having to search for a decent meal.
However, the youth, now surnamed Cheetah,
Will still be the fastest, now and forever.
The End.
