I did it!

At long last, and after much dreaming and writing, I have submitted my application to the Franciscan University of Steubenville! Now all that is left to do is have Seton send them my school transcripts, and send them my SAT scores.

Speaking of my SAT, could I ask for everyone’s prayers? I am scheduled to take the SAT on October 10th and I am really nervous about it. You see, I took the PSAT in 2006 and I did below average; mostly because I was only half way through Algebra at the time, and hadn’t had any Geometry yet. Since then I have done Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, but I am only at the beginning of Geometry = Nervousness. I think I’ll do pretty well on the reading and writing portions; although, the 25 minute essay scares the heck out of me.

So, if everyone could please pray that I get a good enough score to get into FUS, I would really appreciate it. Also, if you have any tips on taking the test please leave a comment and let me know! Thanks.

I will be praying for you!!! You'll do great. And yay for you for sending in your application to Steubie! I hope you make it in there! I've gone down there for some Youth Conferences, and it's pretty much amazing... some of my cousins go there, too, and they're always singing FUS' praises. :) Good luck!
I'm taking the SAT/ACT in the Spring, and I'm nervous about it, too. Could you pray for me, too? I'm taking my PSAT on the 14th, and I'm pretty anxious about it. Especially the Math and Science parts. Ughh. :)
God bless, my prayers are with you!
Love,
Cousin Rose

I'll be praying for you my dear!

The best thing you can do to for the SAT is
1) study. Review over the practice problems in the study guide and do at least two practice tests the week before the SAT.

2) Pray! Include that you'll do well in your prayer intentions every day, and don't forget to say a prayer before the test and during if you need help. Even just a quick "Lord, help me with this Geometry problem!"

3) Forget. Forget about everyone else in the room, forget about FUS, forget about the score, forget about what you'll be doing after the test, forget everything except for the test. If you're worrying about whether or not you'll get a good enough score to get in to college, you'll be less focused on the test and you'll do worse.

4) Trust. Trust that if you are meant to get a good score, you'll get one. Trust that God knows what He's doing and will help you get in to FUS if that is what you are supposed to do.

5) Don't freak out if you don't get a good score. You can always take the test again! The great thing about re-taking tests is that typically colleges will look at your best scores from multiple tests.

I'll be praying for you m'dear!

Tip that helped my sister:

Write practice tests and time yourself! The SAT Prep book gives topics just like those given for real. :)

YAAAY! Vicki, I'm so happy for you! I'm not sure if you know me, but I'm a friend of Hannah's (haha, if she considers me one :P)
Anyway, FUS is AMAZING in my opinion & and so are the Youth Confrences! Are you planning to go next fall? (if you do, maybe I'll see you there!) Anyway, don't get worked up over the SAT. I took it last year and my scores were alright, not high enough for a scholarship or anything like that, but getting worried over them doesn't help at all (: CollegeBoard.com has practice SAT questions which helped me. Especially in the math section. Umm, other than that, they also said a Question of the Day via email and those are good too although it is kinda late for those. Oh, and if it takes more than 10 or so seconds to understand a question, I'd skip it and go back to it later. Not sure if you already have this tip under your belt, but after elimating answers and you are left with two, that's the best time to guess. (: If you can't eliminate any, sometimes it's better to skip the question all together. For the Critical Reading section, I found it easier to skim for the sentence containing an answer rather than read the whole selection and then go to the questions. There was a bunch of useless information there, and if you get caught up in it, you can lose valuable time. Above all, pray to the saints and your gaurdian angel :D Good luck & you're in my prayers!
